Having Your Cake And Eating It Too: A Quick Guide To Recognizing Opportunity

Establishing yourself in business is no easy feat, especially if you aren’t in the right mindset. You may have all the skills and attributes you need to take your one thing—your business—and make it a reality. If you aren’t able to adjust your mindset into recognizing opportunities, though, none of that will matter in the long run. The difference between a successful entrepreneur and one that is struggling to get their idea off the ground is the ability to visualize and seek out new opportunities.

Steps Required To Get Into The Right Mindset

To get into the mindset you need to be in to achieve success, you’ll need to ask yourself a few questions:

Who is pouring into you? Are there areas of your life that have been neglected? It’s time to ask yourself what you’re absorbing from the world around you. Are you reading the right books, moving enough, eating right, and surrounding yourself with inspiring people? If the answer is no, you need to reevaluate who and what you’re allowing in that may be clouding your mindset and hindering success.

What tools/systems/skills do you have? What do you bring to the table today? Could your current system use an upgrade? You need to evaluate whether your skills, systems, and tools are up to par with the vision you see for yourself. If they aren’t, you can enhance them easily so that you can add value to others and be an authoritative resource in your field.

What does your business plan and personal finances look like? Take a look at your finances and your business plan. If things don’t quite add up, you may have to make some cuts or take in some outside assistance. You don’t need to have all the financial backing of a fortune 500 to make things work.

How can you manage your database more efficiently? Are you taking care of your vendors and consumers as best you could be? Take the time to check-in with the people you do business with and offer up your time and resources wherever possible. Establishing strong professional connections will help solidify you as a key player in your specific industry.

Are you being a leader? People depend on you. From your family to your clients, the people you take care of either personally or professionally need to be able to depend on you to be a good steward. Take this time to focus on what you can do to help.

You might be thinking that all this is easier said than done, but it doesn’t have to be! Remember, we only have one life, so when we can combine both our business and our personal life we can have our cake and eat it too.

When it comes to scaling and growing your business, you will need to embrace five very important factors:  Focus, Intention,  Health, and Environment  (we only go into depth on productivity should we go into more depth on the other factors?)

Focus:

A Lot of businesses fail because they lack focus on what they are really good at.  They try to be everything to everyone and they become a generalized company appealing to everyone yet no one at the same time. When you have laser focus on what your purpose is, on what your company is really good at providing and you can directly solve the problems of your clients, you will win everytime.

Intention:

You have to learn how to leverage your yeses so that every single one leads to the protection of your one thing. Staying focused and productive will always produce a little chaos, and that can lead to stress and anxiety. However, if you stay in your productivity block through leveraged yes’, the chaos won’t be so bad.

Health:

Health is everything and without it, there will be no chance of productivity. Take care of yourself by practicing meditation, eating right, exercising, getting enough sleep, recharging with loved ones, setting goals and plans, and putting aside a time block for your business and you’ll be able to protect your “productive person” energy.

Environment:

Finally, the people you surround yourself and the place that you are in must be in support of your one thing. It is the foundation for your business and to achieve success, you must have a strong foundation. When you have an environment that supports your company’s goals and vision and expresses what your company represents, it’s like having an advantage over your competition because not only do your employees feel great to come to work less stressed, your clients like to be in your environment.
